Between work and directing the show I barely have time to turn around twice.

The show is going great. I am enjoying it so much, we open in one month! I am so happy I am directing it, it's changed my life and the way I look at certain things. Sarah Kane is one of my favourite playwrights. I hope to act or direct another one of her plays in the future. But right now, I'm savouring the moment.

Work is extremely busy! We've had our system revamped a little, my manager is pregnant and taking leave in May and there will be some changes due to that that we will have to take on. Unfortunately, they've stopped overtime, which sucks cos I'm poor right now.

JD and I saw Avenue Q last Tuesday. It was awesome! I totally loved it- it was the best musical I have ever seen, after Wicked of course. I would recommend it to anyone, it's hilarious! This Saturday I'm going to see The Merchant of Venice with some friends in Kingston and then we have rehearsal on Sunday. I found out that Jack's Mannequin is coming to London but tickets are already sold out, major bummer!
In other news, I read a crazy ass story about a chimp who mauled at 50 year old woman in Connecticut. I heard the 911 call- which was chilling and kind of nervously funny in a messed up way.

It's getting a bit warmer- it's in the 50's now. At least it's not snowing anymore! We had 18 inches two weeks ago and the whole of London came to a stand still. There were no trains, tube or buses- so if you didn't walk into work then you got to stay home. I was lucky and got to stay home for two days!

We started watching a new TV show here while waiting for Chuck series 2 to premiere...it's called Psych! I know it's old but the UK is behind and so we get these shows way after the US- annoying but at least we get them. Also been watching America's Next Top Model, which is strangely fascinating. Again, it's the last season not the current one- cos we're behind here.

I think that's about it. My life is really busy right now but it's good. I can't believe it's nearly March!

This was my favorite part - I'm so proud to be an American

Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends -- hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism -- these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility -- a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world; duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.

This is the price and the promise of citizenship.

This is the source of our confidence -- the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed -- why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive... that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]."

America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back, nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

New Year. New Beginnings.

We're already 12 days into the new year! So much happened last year, I feel bruised but determined to have a better year.
The new year kicked off with getting involved in theatre, which is my passion and my creative outlet. I had my auditions for Crave by Sarah Kane yesterday. I am directing this show, which opens in mid March. My cast was selected and they are all brilliant. I am really looking forward to putting my energy into this and it's something that will take up a lot of my time and make time pass quickly. Rehearsals start Wednesdays, woo!

I've watched series 2 of Heroes and am pleased to say I enjoyed it very much- I dunno why people slate it! I can't wait to see series 3 now. I'm also very into Britney Spears right now, she's just kinda freaking awesome- as well as Kingdom Hearts (the first one) on playstation. I'm getting far now- JD has been helping me too- we're near the end now. Loves it.

Things I'm looking forward to/resolved to do this year include: directing Crave, my mom's visit over here in April, Mallorca trip in April, directing one-acts in the summer, Florida summer trip in Aug, turning 24 (ugh!), celebrating my 3 year wedding anniversary, reading lots of good books, finding new bands/music, making new friends, staying fit and healthy!

Oh and my new years resolution is to officially change my name and all. In memory of my Dad, we're going to have our first son's middle name be arthur or rex.

Wishing everyone a happy blank page - 2009.

I saw Twilight last night! Woo, it  was awesome, a great little indie film with bits of wow and ooh! I really hope they don't hype it up Hollywood-style for the next film- they got a lot of money from the box office sales for Twilight and so apparently they'll be shooting on location in Italy for the 2nd film New Moon, but like I said I hope it keeps its indie feel and doesn't go all Marvel Comics on me. That would suck.
I really loved how the film stuck to the book and even though bits were missing and could have been expounded I thought that overall it was a 9/10.

Other than Twilight, my weekend was pretty uneventful- I helped out with the GTC's Fractured Fairytales production- did front of house and the bar, and JD helped me. We also watched We Own the Night, which was pretty good- it has Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg in it. Two of my fave actors.

Xmas is Thursday. I have a half-day on Wednesday. Just have to get through today and tomorrow. I can do it!
Can't wait for time off over xmas. It is much needed.

What a month...

On November 15th my dad died.

My whole world was (and still is) turned upside down. I've been keeping a separate journal for my dad, what happened and what is happening to me in the process... it's all very new still and I'm only just starting to deal with things, if you can call it that. I'm still in shock and some days it seems like I won't get through the grief.

Work has been extremely difficult and long...longer that it ever was before. My boss has been very understanding though and I got a week and a day extra off (including my bereavement time) to have to think and process everything.

So my trip back home for thanksgiving was a very intense one, I tried to have fun though, despite everything... and we did- my mom made an amazing turkey dinner, my family gave me loads of presents, John and I explored Venice (showed him my high school, where I used to hang out and work, etc) and the beaches, we went Black Friday shopping and made out like bandits, and we drank wine and ate like kings... My mom spoiled her new son in law rotten!

Now I'm back, Christmas is less than two weeks away and the new year is upon us. How did this happen so fast? Craziness...

Tonight I'm going for drinks with Twis and friends from the theatre- tomorrow I'm chilling and Sunday repeat. I'm also going to watch Superbad at some point this weekend. Next weekend I'm hoping to go see Twilight in the cinema (hells yea). Also the Fairy Tales play opens next Wed at the green so I'll be helping out each night. Hopefully staying busy with things will help my nerves calm down a bit.

I'm missing Florida, my family and friends. Winter time here is so bleak and grey...I'm trying not to depress myself even further but I can't help it when the sun doesn't even come out all day long, wtf.

Other random thoughts: I'm watching the 3rd season of The Hills, it's awesome; I've got Britney's two new singles, they ROCK; and I rediscovered my undying love of The Beatles when watching Across the Universe.

Two words: Edward Cullen.

I'm reading the last book- Breaking Dawn. I can't even put into words how much I love this series. It has some kind of strange power over me! Trying to take it slowly and stretch out the reading to make it last longer. Haven't felt that way since Harry Potter!

Less than 3 weeks til Thanksgiving. Also, we'll find out who is the next president this week. *Obama, Obama, Obama!*

Saw Quantum of Solace this past Saturday. It wasn't as good as Casino Royale but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Looks like some good films will be coming out soon, other than Twilight of course, but that is No. 1 on the list to see!!

Work is ok. Training this week. Cloudy and rainy weather wise...*sigh*
Going to the Andy Warhol exhibit Saturday, woo! Can't wait for that now. I watched Factory Girl this past weekend and it was great.

Ok enough for now, will update soon.

Twilight obsessed!

The Twilight series. What can I say. Wow. The best series since Harry Potter, in my opinion and that is saying a lot. I love Edward Cullen!
I'm really obsessed now and its a little pathetic. Anyway- the film comes out November 21st in the states. I just watched the official trailer and I got goosebumps, its exactly how I imagined when reading the book. SO EXCITED!

Wow. Just ordered Eclipse, the 3rd book of 4 in the series. Can't wait to find out what happens next.
That's pretty much it. Twilight rules. Get into it.

Happy weekend!

another week gone by

current location: work
current mood: cold
currently listening to: snow patrol- eyes open

So it's gotten very very cold in London town. It's definitely winter now. Great.
I finished Twilight and am now on New Moon- the second of the four books. SO good so far, but sad!

In other news, I'm very much liking my new work schedule- 9-5PM five days a week. Its great! I have more time in the evenings and more time with my JD <3 Thanksgiving is four weeks from this coming Saturday, woooooooo!!
Still haven't gotten to watch series 2 of Heroes yet, but I will soon. Watched some more of House series 2 last night, which we haven't watched in ages and really need to sort out! My 365 movie list is coming along, I dunno if I'll quite make it though! We're going to see Quantum of Solace on November 1st at the cinema. On the 8th we're going to the Andy Warhol exhibit at The Hayward Gallery, which will be cool because 1) I've never been to the Hayward. 2) it's supposed to have video clips and interviews of Andy and his friends, pretty unusual and unique stuff I haven't seen or heard of yet.

It was raining buckets yesterday and now it is sunny, wtf. London life for you.
